This Privacy Policy explains how Peek Scout (“Peek Scout,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use our website at peekscout.com and our related services (together, the “Service”). Peek Scout is operated from the United States. By using the Service you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Who this applies to & eligibility

The Service is intended for people aged 18 or older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at support@peekscout.com and we will delete it.

What we collect

Providers: the profile you publish (name, city, services, media) and the contact details you add (phone, booking link, Instagram), plus your account email. Customers: we don't require an account to browse; if you leave a review we store the name and text you submit. Everyone: basic usage events (page views, taps on Book/Message/Call) and technical data such as IP address, device and browser type, used for lead stats, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.

How provider phone numbers are protected

Provider numbers are never included in our public pages or public API responses. They are revealed only when a real visitor taps Call or Message, through a rate-limited, bot-checked endpoint. We do not sell or share provider contact details with data brokers or marketers — ever.

How we use data

To run the service: showing profiles, routing contacts, giving providers their lead stats, processing promotional purchases, and preventing spam and fraud. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Services we rely on

Payments are processed by Stripe (we never see card numbers). Hosting and data storage run on Vercel and Supabase. Bot protection uses Cloudflare Turnstile. Optional AI processing for the Video Makeover uses OpenAI and Anthropic. Each of these providers processes data under its own privacy policy, on our behalf and under contract, only to deliver the Service.

Video Makeover

If you request a free Video Makeover, we collect the video link you submit (Instagram or TikTok), your business name and service, and the email address where you want the result sent. To produce your video we download the clip you submitted and process it: its audio is transcribed by OpenAI to generate captions, and Anthropic's Claude writes a short on-screen hook. The finished video and cover image are stored on our hosting (Supabase) so we can deliver them to you. We use this only to create and send your makeover — we don't sell it or use it for advertising. Ask us at support@peekscout.com to delete a submitted video and its result at any time.

Connecting your TikTok account

Connecting your TikTok account to Peek Scout is optional. If you choose to connect it, you authorize us through TikTok's official login (Login Kit), and we request only the permissions needed for the feature you use:

• user.info.basic — to read your TikTok display name, avatar, and account identifier (open id) so we can show “Connected as [your handle]” and link the connection to your channel.
• video.upload — so that when you tap “Send to TikTok,” we can upload the video you selected into your own TikTok drafts. You then add a caption and publish the post yourself from the TikTok app.
• video.publish — if you use Direct Post, this lets us post the video you selected, with the caption and settings you choose on Peek Scout, directly to your TikTok account at your request.

We only ever upload or publish a video when you explicitly ask us to, and only the specific video you select — we never post on your behalf automatically. We store the access and refresh tokens TikTok issues so you don't have to reconnect each time. We do not collect your followers, your video list, your private messages, or any other TikTok profile data beyond the basic profile fields listed above. Our collection, use, and transfer of information received from TikTok APIs adheres to the TikTok Developer Terms of Service and TikTok Community Guidelines, including any limited-use requirements. We do not use TikTok data to train AI models, and we do not sell or share it.

You can disconnect TikTok at any time from your channel's Studio, which immediately deletes the tokens we hold, and you can revoke Peek Scout's access from your TikTok account settings under “Manage app permissions.”

Data retention

We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes. Provider profiles and account data are kept while your channel is active and deleted (or anonymized) after you delete your channel or ask us to remove it. TikTok and Instagram access tokens are deleted as soon as you disconnect. Video Makeover files are removed on request. Payment records are retained as required for tax and accounting. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics may be kept indefinitely.

How we protect your data

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with our hosting providers under access controls. OAuth tokens are stored so they are not exposed in public pages or API responses. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards and to limit access to those who need it to run the Service.

Your rights & how to delete your data

Providers can edit or delete their channel at any time from their account. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing (for example, under the GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, or to request deletion of any data we hold about you, email support@peekscout.com and we'll respond promptly. Reply STOP to any text from us to opt out of texts. See also our data-deletion page.

Cookies & local storage

We use local storage for functional things like remembering that you own your channel on this device. No third-party advertising cookies.

International users

Peek Scout is operated in the United States, and your information is processed there and in the regions where our service providers operate. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
